Acute and Chronic Pain

People generally experience two types of pain. The first is acute pain, which is the bodys immediate response to physical trauma. We help patients manage acute pain through the use of therapeutic techniques, overthecounter (OTC) and prescription medication. With this approach, acute pain diminishes as the injury heals.

What is Chronic Pain?

Consistent pain experienced over a prolonged period is classified as chronic pain. Chronic pain may stem from an injury that has not healed properly, from a recurring injury, or certain medical conditions. These include:

  • Bone Spurs
  • Bulging Discs
  • Herniated Discs
  • Back Pain
  • Head and Neck Pain
  • Chest, Stomach, Abdomen, and Groin Pain
  • Lower Extremity Pain
  • Upper Extremity Pain

Pain is not only physically but also mentally debilitating. Because it hampers the ability to carry out both essential and recreational activities, patients often feel stressed, anxious, or depressed.

While treating non-life-threatening conditions that cause acute and chronic pain, we adhere to strict pain management protocols. We also refer patients to pain specialists when necessary.
