Orthopedics is a medical specialty focusing on the musculoskeletal system. This includes our bones, muscles, ligaments, joints, and tendons. At Westcare Medical Clinic, we commonly see patients of all ages for various orthopedic ailments, whether it be from sports-related injuries or natural wear and tear.
Our orthopedic physicians are able to diagnose and treat almost all musculoskeletal conditions, such as:
The treatment plan for each patient will be different based on the severity of the injury. Severe or critical trauma, such as the kind that results from high-speed motor vehicle accidents, will likely go straight to Urgent Care. Other patients will go through a series of tests and evaluations in order to best prepare their line of care.
In most orthopedic cases, physicians will utilize radiological imaging, such as x-rays, MRI (magnetic resonance imaging), and CT (computed tomography) scans to best evaluate the injury.
Once our staff has fully diagnosed the injury, they will then move forward with the best treatment options–some patients may be given medication or therapy, whereas others might require more intensive procedures such as reconstructive surgery or joint replacement. For treatments that are beyond our capabilities, we can refer patients to top-notch specialty care.
